What is your first reaction when problems present itself? Do you react like most of us and begin worrying? Can you remember what it felt like when you were a child? Did you worry about your problems back then or did you trust your parents to take care of it?
Earlier we learned how all who choose to worship and obey Yehovah are children of God. Only the children of Yehovah have the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) in them. (Rom 8:14). So we know the Ruach can only live in the lives of those who are 100% obedient to the law of Moses. (1.John 2:6)
Because we are sons and daughters of Yehovah, we have no reason to fear anything. (Matthew 6:25-34, Rom 8:15) But just as Yeshua and Job were tested to prove their sonship, so will we also be tested to determine who we belong to. There is only one way to pass such a test, and that is through obedience to Yehovah and His law. (Deut 13)
Yehovah has said in His word that if we obey His law, the law of Moses, we are 100% righteous. (1.John 3:7). In Matthew 6:25-34 righteousness is the number one condition for Yehovah to meet our needs. Yeshua says we don’t have to worry about anything, not about what we will wear or eat because if we are righteous then we know Yehovah will provide everything we need.
So what Yeshua is saying is this: If you are righteous, then you can know for sure Yehovah will deal with everything in your life. If you need healing, He will heal you. If you need money and can’t pay your bills, He will give you money to pay your bills. Whatever you need, Yehovah will give it to you, if you are righteous. And we know there is only one way to become righteous, and that is by obedience to the law of Moses (1.John 3:7)
You might be wondering now, what about the cross of Yeshua? Where does that fit into this?
As we have learned earlier, we can not do without the cross. In Jeremiah 3:8 Yehovah divorced us because of disobedience to His law, the law of Moses. We were unfaithful to Him and obeyed other gods, so He left us and allowed us to serve other gods. But when we suddenly realized these other gods could not give us what Yehovah could, we tried to work our way back to Him and become acceptable again. Yehovah own law forbids Him to take us back as His people (Numbers 5). But if Yehovah dies, and we die with Him, the demands of the law of adultery in Numbers 5 have been met, and we are free to remarry Yehovah, and He is free to take us back again. And we also know Leviticus 17:11 says only the Blood can atone for our sins. So only the Blood of Yeshua can atone for our sins. Without the cross, we would be eternally lost forever. It is the cross and the cross only that opens the way for us to come back into covenant with Yehovah. And when we come back into covenant with Him, we have to choose to stay there. The only way to stay in covenant with Yehovah is by being righteous. And we know from 1.John 3:7 righteousness comes only by obedience to the law of Moses.
Being in covenant with Yehovah does not mean that He will override your free will. So He will test you, time and time again to see who you will choose to serve. He will allow tests to come into your life to see if you will choose to follow the false promises of other gods, or choose to stay obedient to Him and allow Him to bless you (Deut 13)
Yeshuas test in the desert (Matthew 4:1-11) and Jobs trials has some important lessons for us to learn. Both of them won their tests by obedience to the law of Moses. Whatever happened to them they refused to disobey Yehovah, and they set their allegiance and obedience to Him above all. Because of that, angels came to minister to Yeshua and Job was given double in return what he had lost.
Matthew 6:25-34 is telling us the truth. If we are righteous, we have no reason to worry about anything. But the question is, how will you react when the tests come?
How did you react like a child when a problem presented itself? Where you worried about bills, your parents could not pay? I can remember as a child I heard my parents talking about challenges and problems they faced. I understood times were hard for them and sometimes, they did not know what to do and how to pay their bills. But I chose not to worry about it because I knew they would find a way somehow. I trusted them to care for me, and I trusted them to protect me. So even though I knew they struggled I chose not to focus on their problems and instead focused on what made me safe, their love for me.
How do you react like a child of Yehovah when a problem presents itself? What do you focus on when the doctor suddenly tells you-you got cancer and only one month left to live when the bank foreclosures on your house and your husband leave you for another woman? All of these things are tests (Deut 13) allowed by Yehovah to see how you will react. But if you do what Yeshua and Job did, and stay obedient, you will pass the tests with flying colors and be given double in return.
When Yeshua and the disciples were caught in a storm, Yeshua was sleeping in the back of the boat while the disciples were convinced they would drown. (Matthew 8:23-27) When they woke Yeshua, He rebuked them for their little faith. What He was saying is this, because they focused on the storm and not on Yehovah, they failed the test. Because they focused on the storm and allowed fear to creep in, they failed the test. But when they chose to wake up Yehovah who was sleeping in the back of the boat, He calmed the storm, and they passed the test.
Matthew 6:25-34 promises you that whatever storm you are facing right now, Yehovah will rebuke it for you, if you will do your part. Your part is to be righteous and obey the law of Moses (1.John 3:7) and refuse to allow fear to catch you. (Rom 8:15) So do what the disciples did, call out to Yehovah for salvation (Rom 8:15, 10:13), and He will rebuke your financial storm, your health issues, your relationship issues.
He will not force you to call to HIm for salvation. He will not force you to be righteous. You have to choose to be righteous. You have to choose to focus your mind on your strong tower Yehovah (Prov 18:10) and call out to Him for salvation (Rom 8:15, 10:13). Then you will surely see salvation, and He will stand up in your boat and rebuke your storm.
