Have you ever wanted to know how to be baptized in the Holy Spirit? Do you feel a desire in your heart to function in one or more of the gifts of the Spirit (1.Chor 12) or the ministry gifts (Eph 4:11-16)? How can you know for sure that you have been given the Holy Spirit and baptized into Him?
Mainstream Christianity would tell you the evidence of being baptized with the Holy Spirit is speaking with other tounges. If this is true, you would expect people baptized with the Holy Spirit to live clean lives, instead, you witness people who speak in other tounges operating in the gifts of the spirit, cheating on their spouses, divorcing them, remarrying someone else and living not exactly clean moral lives. How is it possible for someone baptized in the Spirit to cheat on their spouse, lie or even have hatred in their heart? And what about preachers who claims to be baptized in the Spirit, who operates in the gifts of the Spirit, but they desert their families and sometimes even cheats on their spouses but it seems as if God does not rebuke His gifts He has given to them?
And then you have all the other cultures and other religions with the same manifestations as in Christianity. You have people in Hinduism, Buddhism, New Age, and certain sects of Islam speaking in other tounges, well able to do miracles in their names of their gods. What about them, how is that possible if the evidence of being baptized with the Holy Spirit is speaking with other tounges?
Most Christians dont know how to respond when they see tounges and miracles in other religions. They almost never read their Bibles on a regular basis and instead, they choose to have the Bible read to them and interpreted to them by their pastor. When you almost never open your Bible it can become rather difficult and confusing to understand how it is possible for people in other religions to speak in other tounges.
You have been taught in Mainstream Christianity that as long as you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will get to share in the promise of the Spirit in John 14:16. And because the Apostles in Acts 2:3 spoke with other tounges, the evidence of being baptized into the Holy Spirit is speaking with other tounges when you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
Have you ever read John 14:16 and Acts 2:3 or have you just made the choice to believe your pastor’s interpretation of it?
In Acts 2 is obvious these Apostles had not converted to Christianity. They were Jews, obeying the written law of Moses believing in Yeshua as their Messiah. The Holy Spirit baptized them because they as law obeying Jews believed in Yeshua as their Messiah.
If the law of Moses is a burden and something Yeshua came to free us from, how then is it possible for law-obeying Jews who believe in Yeshua as their Messiah to be baptized into the Holy Spirit? According to mainstream Christianity today, these Apostles had fallen from grace considering how they still saw themselves as accountable to the law of Moses. But the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, still baptized them with the evidence of speaking with other tounges.
Some pastors would agree that the first Apostles were law obeying Jewish believers, but then they would say “what about Cornelius? He was a gentile and the Holy Spirit baptized him, and he never obeyed the law of Moses” (Acts 10:44-48)
It is true that Cornelius was a Gentile, but in Acts 10:2, we read that he was a God-fearer. What is a God-fearer? A god fearer is a Gentile who has chosen to obey the written law of Moses but not converted to Judaism. So Cornelius did obey the written law of Moses, and when he and his family came to faith in Yeshua as their Messiah, the Holy Spirit baptized them.
If the law of Moses is a burden and something Yeshua came to free us from, how then is it possible for a Gentile like to Cornelius who had chosen to obey the law of Moses to be baptized into the Holy Spirit?
If the first Apostles was baptized because they were law obeying Jews, believing in Yeshua as their Messiah. If the first gentile who was baptized was followed the law of Moses and believed in Yeshua as his Messiah, this should tell us something important. Holy Spirit baptism is dependent upon obedience to the law of Moses AND faith in Yeshua as our Messiah.
Mainstream Christianity disagrees with this and would quickly tell you that you are under grace and not law. The Spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit disagrees with mainstream Christianity and only baptizes those who obey the written law of Moses AND believes Yehshua is the promised Messiah. The Holy Spirit is God; mainstream Christianity consists of human beings created by God. Who should we listen to? God or His creation? They can’t both be right.
We see this again if we read John 14:16 where you will notice how it begins with the word “And”. This tells us that the promise in John 14:16 is conditional and the conditions are found in the previous verse.
In John 14:15 Yeshua says “If you love Me you will keep My commandments. And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Advocate to be with your forever”. (John 14:16). So we see now how Yeshua says that if we want the Holy Spirit, we first have to keep His commandments. This is what the first Apostles did, and what Cornelius did.
So contrary to what mainstream Christianity teaches you, there is something you have to do to get the Holy Spirit. We also see how Yeshua says the Spirit comes from the Father given through Yeshua (Matt 3:11). So even though Yeshua is the one who baptizes us in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit comes from Yehovah the Father. The Father whose name is Yehovah is the one who gave us the law of Moses, so if He is the one who sends the Holy Spirit it is only natural He expects us to obey His law at the same time.
Mainstream Christianity says we just have to believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, who came to free us from the law of Moses, and ask Him to baptize us. This is not what the Bible says, and if what mainstream Christianity describes as Holy Spirit baptism is wrong we can’t accept it. We have to accept what the Bible says.
What are commandments are Yeshua referring to in John 14:15?
In John 5:19-20, Mark 7:13 Yeshua says His commandments are the same as His Fathers. So we know from the Gospels Yeshua taught His disciples to obey the written law of Moses, the commandments of His Father. Then we know John 14:15-16 says if we want the Holy Spirit, we have to obey the written law of Moses.
This is what Cornelius did and this is what the first Apostles did. So why then do we believe we dont have to do what the Bible says and obey the written law of Moses to be baptized with the Holy Spirit? Because we tend to believe our pastors more then we believe the Bible, and that is idolatry.
In John 14:26 Yeshua says Yehovah will send the Holy Spirit in Yeshua’s name. In John 5:43 Yeshua says He has come in His Fathers name. What does this mean? Does it mean that Yeshua’s name is Yehovah and the Holy Spirits name is Yeshua?
There is huge differences between the mindset of a Greek culture and a Hebraic culture. In Europe and North America we are mostly influenced by a Greek culture and a Greek mindset in the way we think, speak and teach. Our western world has become so Hellenized that we are struggling to understand the Bible because the Bible was never written to a Hellenized culture. So to be able to properly understand the word of Yehovah, we have to remember and keep in mind it was written to Jews living in a Hebraic culture.
In a Greek Hellenized culture, a name just means the name you have been given by your parents. So if someone said He was going to send someone to us in his name we would naturally believe he meant that person would be called the same name as he.
In a Hebraic culture, a name can mean two things, the name given to you by your parents but it can also mean your reputation and character. So if someone said He was going to send someone to us in His name it usually meant that person would have the same reputation and character.
If we read John 14:26 and 5:43 from a Greek mindset it does not make sense and it gets rather confusing. Is Yeshua saying that His name is Yehovah, but that the Holy Spirits name is Yeshua?
If we read John 14:26 and 5:43 from a Hebraic mindset it suddenly makes sense, because now we understand He is not referring to the name and what He calls Himself and what the Holy Spirit will call himself. He is referring to His character and reputation.
So what Yeshua is saying in John 5:43 and 14:26 is this, I have the same character and reputation as My Father Yehovah, and I will send the Holy Spirit who has the same character and reputation as My Father Yehovah.
This is why the Holy Spirit baptizes only those who obey the written law of Moses, and believes in Yeshua as their Messiah. It is not in His character to baptize a person who ignores and disobeys the written law of Moses, even though they might believe in Yeshua as their Messiah.
And This is why Yeshua says in John 14:15-16 that if we share in His character and reputation by doing what He did and obeying the written law of Moses, the Father Yehovah, will send us the Holy Spirit. And that is why Cornelius was baptized, because he as a gentile obeyed the written law of Moses and bleieved in Yeshua as his messiah.
But now we also understand this, the proof of the Holy Spirit is not speaking with other tounges. The evidence of the Holy Spirit is obedience to Yehovah’s character and reputation; a life lived in obedience to the law of Moses. Will you still speak with other tounges? 1. Cor 12 says tounges is a natural consequence of being baptized into the Holy Spirit. So if you obey the written law and believe Yeshua is your Messiah, you will speak with other tounges.
The Bible says in Matthew 24:24 and Mark 13:22, there will come a time when false Messiahs and prophets arise, claiming to be Jesus. They will be given power and authority to do great and mighty things in the name of Jesus to lead even the elect to fall. Why would Yehovah allow this to happen? And how can we avoid being decieved?
In Deut 13 and John 14:15 we read how Yehovah allows this to happen to test us to see which one of us is a genuine believer. So when this happens, and to some extent it is already happening in mainstream Christianity, it is Yehovah asking us “do you really love Me?” waiting to see if we will rebuke and ignore those who are false and only follow those who are genuine Apostles, prophets and teachers of Yehovah.
Do these false Messiahs and profets know that they are doing wrong?
We dont know, but we know from Matthew 7:21-23 there will come a time when a large group of people who have lived their entire lives on earth as a faithful Christian doing great miracles in the name of Jesus hears Him say “depart from Me for I never knew you, your workers of lawlessness”.
When mainstream Christians believe the proof of Holy Spirit baptism is speaking with other lounges, but not being obedient to the law of Moses, they will be rejected by Yeshua. When mainstream Christians believe only a true spirit filled believer is someone who is under grace and not law, can do miracles in the name of Jesus, they will be rejected by Yeshua.
When mainstream Christians understand that the proof of the Holy Spirit is obedience to the written law of Moses combined with faith in the cross, they will be true spirit filled believers able to function in all the gifts of the Spirit (1.Chor 12) and the ministry gifts (Eph 4:11-16).
True spirit-filled believers will be well able to do great and mighty things in the name of Jesus. They will be able to speak with other tounges and raise the dead. But they will do these things not because they say “in Jesus name”, but because they are living and operating in the character and personality of Yeshua. When you live and operate in the character and personality of Yeshua you are one with Him (1.John 2:6) and truly and genuinely doing things in His name.
So choose today to do what Cornelius did, obey the written law of Moses and believe Yeshua is the Messiah. Then the Holy Spirit is going to baptize you and you will speak with genuine other tounges, operate in genuine true gifts of the spirit and ministry gifts.
Today it is Friday and the Shabbat begins tonight. If you want to do what Cornelius did, make sure you celebrate Shabbat by not working for money and not making others work for money. There are of course exceptions to this, if you have a medical emergency, you are allowed to make others work for money. If you have a medical condition that makes certain things impossible to do on the week, and only possible to do during Shabbat, you are allowed to make others work for money. But if it can wait until the sun sets tomorrow it has to wait.
